* Such is the Kingdom of God

Verily I say unto you,
Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child
shall in no wise enter therein.
Luke 18:17

Just as we have natural or earthly parents, we have a heavenly Father who loves us, protects us, chastises us and guides us in the way that we should go.  Often times, once we reach the age of maturity, we often go our own way and no longer rely or depend on our parents in the manner that we did as children.  Not so with our heavenly Father!  In the Kingdom of God, adults must become as children. This means they must accept the Gospel of the Kingdom in the same way as a child: in simple faith.

At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, who is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven? And Jesus called a little child unto them and set him in the midst of them. And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.  Matthew 18:1-4

But Jesus called them unto Him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the Kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the Kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

Luke 18:16-17

Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the Kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.   Mark 10:15

©     Heavenly rather than earthly treasures are emphasized:

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.   Matthew 6:19-21

Jesus compared those who emphasize earthly treasures to a fool:

But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?  So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.   Luke 12:20-21

©     Heavenly rather than earthly glory is sought:

He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory; but he that seeketh His glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.    John 7:18

How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only.
   John 5:44

Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing; it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that He is your God.    John 8:54

©     The last are first:

Those who are first in the kingdoms of the world are last in God's Kingdom:

But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.   Matthew 19:30

So the last shall be first and the first last . . .
  Matthew 20:16

And behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.    Luke 13:30

©     Small becomes great:

Jesus illustrated this principle by the natural examples of a mustard seed, leaven, and a widow's mite:

Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof. Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.    Matthew 13:31-33

And He looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. And He saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. And He said, of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.  Luke 21:1-4

©     That which is highly esteemed is lowly valued:

And He said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men: but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. (Luke 16:15)

©     Lose your life to save it:

Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.  John 12:24

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the Gospel's, the same shall save it.  Mark 8:35

He that findeth his life shall lose it; and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
Matthew 10:39

You lose your life by denying yourself of worldly pleasures and standards in order to follow the King:

Then said Jesus unto His disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.   Matthew 16:24-25

©     Hate life in this world instead of loving it:

He that loveth his life shall lose it: and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.   John 12:25

©     Give to receive:

Give, and it shall be given unto you: good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.     Luke 6:38

©     The impossible is possible:

And He said, the things which are impossible with men are possible with God  Luke 18:27

But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.   Matthew 19:26

And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.   Mark 10:27

©     Those without sight see and those with sight are blind:

Jesus came to give spiritual vision to those lost in spiritual darkness. Those who thought they had spiritual vision through religious tradition were actually blind.

And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.   John 9:39

©     Take a yoke and burden to rest:

You find true rest by being yoked together with Jesus to carry His burden. His burden is that the Gospel of the Kingdom be extended to the nations of the world.

A yoke is a piece of equipment used to pair up two animals to pull a plow. It speaks of labor. A burden is something that is carried. It is a weight. Jesus said:

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me: for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.   Matthew 11:28-30

©     Division instead of peace results:

Jesus is peace. When He came to the world in fleshly form, peace was on earth.

But Jesus brought division instead of peace to the kingdoms of the world. Families, cities, and kingdoms were divided because of Him. Some believed and accepted Him as King. They became residents of the Kingdom through spiritual rebirth. Others did not accept Jesus as King and did not become part of the Kingdom. This resulted in division:

Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.   Luke 12:51-53

. . . And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.   Matthew 10:36

©     That covered is revealed:

Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.  What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.    Matthew 10:26-27

©     The Kingdom is extended to sinners instead of the righteous:

But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.   Matthew 9:13

©     Spiritual rather than natural is emphasized:

For the Kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.   Romans 14:17

For the Kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.   1 Corinthians 4:20

* A Mind To Endure

Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise
with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
1 Peter 4:1

We should always thank God for his goodness and His mercy.  And so even today, this is the day that the Lord has made and allowed us to participate in!  And because we know His will is good, it is perfect and it is acceptable, we should rejoice in that!

For this prayer, I want to focus on endurance in Jesus to run this race as a good soldier.  And so our prayer today will be directed toward keeping our mind in perfect peace, quieting the storms in our lives and a refreshing in our spirits as we prepare to do the things of God; as we continue to focus on our purpose in God.   We are saved with an assignment and in order to complete that assignment, we must have a mindset to endure.  Apostle Paul told Timothy that he should endure hardship as a good soldier.   He also tells him to run this race as a good soldier; to obtain the prize.

Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.  And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.  Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.  2 Timothy 2:1-3

Jesus shared some harsh realities about our christian journey:

And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. But there shall not an hair of your head perish. In your patience possess ye your souls.   Luke 21:11-19

So, just like the disciples, we know that there is suffering ahead of us as we strive to live the lifestyle of Jesus and also to complete the godly assignment that has been set before us.

Peter tells us that we are to arm ourselves likewise; that even as Jesus suffered, so shall we.  If we are not having any suffering in our life, perhaps we should evaluate our self to see if we are working on our assignment.  In today’s society, with a lack of morals and ethics, it is easy to be distracted by the cares of this world; to be caught up in our life situations, our issues or whatever, but as followers of Jesus Christ, we can’t let our cares and concern keep us or hinder us in our race.  The last thing we should want is to run this race in vain.   Hopefully, like me, you’re looking for your crown; your reward that Apostle Paul speaks of after having run this race as a good soldier.  In order to receive that reward, we must continue, or in some cases start, pressing toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

In Romans, Apostle Paul lets us know that all things work together for the good of them that love the Lord and are called according to His purpose.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purposeRomans 8:28

Note that all things work together for THE good; not our good but for the good thing that God has purposed in our life according to HIS will.  This lets me know that sometimes God will allow things in our life that will bring us to the purpose that He has designed for our life.  So it may not always feel good, it may not always look good, it may be painful and you may think you will never see the light again, but what we don't see while we are going through difficult times is God working behind the scene orchestrating people and situations on our behalf.

We already know that in the will of God we are victorious so the outcome does work out for our good.  God is omnipotent and if He has purposed it, it will come to past.  This is what God told Isaiah:

'As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.  As the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater s is my word that goes out from my mouth:  it will not return to me empty but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it'.  Isaiah 55:8

That is powerful because God gave Isaiah a glimpse of who He is and how powerful He is!

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for this day thus far.  We thank You for the life you've given us, for our health and for our strength.  We thank You Lord for being in our right mind; not only mentally, but most of all, having a mind to serve you.

We come to You heavenly father with thanksgiving in our hearts knowing that You and only you are able to supply our every need; to equip us to run this race, to defeat everything that comes up against us, everything that is not like You and in so doing, we obtain the prize in Christ Jesus; the reward that only You can give.

Help us dear Lord to strive for mastery in this race; for endurance to remain to the end for we not only want to hear You say “Well done, my good and faithful servant” we want to hear You say “enter in”.  Help us Lord to bring our mind and our bodies under subjection of Your will; help us to change our mindset to have Your mind; knowing that Your will is good, it is perfect, and it is acceptable; that You are the final authority in our lives.  Lord You said in your word that You know the plans that you have for us; plans of good and not of evil.  Help us Lord to see what You have for us and to walk in that direction.

We thank You Heavenly Father because there is a secret place in You where we abide, where You hide us from our enemies; where we can be refreshed in You.

We thank You God for Jesus who You sent here to save us and wash our sins away.  Thru His blood is the power to endure every bad and evil thing that comes against us.  It is thru Jesus that we have the power to run this race.

We thank You Lord because we have someone in You to call on, when we’re in need, You’re the first one we’re to call on and You come down and see about us.  Increase our faith dear God to realize that it is You and only You that make us victorious; all for Your glory and so we want to be glory carriers, we want our lives to shine; we want to be that beacon on a hill that others see so that they find their way to You.  We know Lord that we are not saved to sit but that we have a mighty work thru You to do.

If ever we needed You, it is now Lord  - as we wait on and receive instruction from You.  Open our heart and ears to hear and receive Your word.

Oh, Lord, we love You because You first loved us and purchased our pardon way back on Calvary; even then knowing that You had a work for us to do.  You are our precious redeemer, and we pray that You bind us closer Lord to You.  Every hour of every day,  we pray that You send Your power, because we can’t make it without You.   Lord, help us to be strong and of good courage knowing that You will never leave us nor forsake us.  You’ll be with us, You will lead us and guide us in the direction that we’re to take.

Lord we acknowledge that we just can’t do without You, we can’t win without You, we need Your power and Your strength.  We realize that it is no goodness of our own but You Lord, in Your sovereignty, that keeps us and allows us to accomplish Your will in our lives.

We can’t help our self, we can’t do it on our own.  We need You, Lord, we cling desperately to You; knowing that you are the director of our path.  Help us Oh Lord to stay on the path that You have set before us; not veering to the left or to the right.  Help us Lord to meditate on You and Your word day and night.  Help us Lord even as we meditate on You, to hide Your word in our hearts so that we may not sin against You.  Help us to keep our focus on You; You said Lord in all of our ways to acknowledge You and You will direct our path.  Lead us and guide us in the way that You would have us to go.

Throughout this day, Lord we pray that You continue to be with us, that You lead us and guide us, give us wisdom and knowledge to speak and act according to Your will; that we may be laborers in Your field; that Your manifested glory be revealed in and thru us today Lord.  We ask all these things and we thank You for all things, in the precious name of Jesus, amen

In closing, I want to leave this final scripture with you:

As for us, we have this large crowd of witnesses around us. So then, let us rid ourselves of everything that gets in the way, and of the sin which holds on to us so tightly, and let us run with determination the race that lies before us.  Hebrews 12:1

Be encouraged to run this race all the way to the finish!
Through the authority and power given us through Jesus Christ,
we can make it, we can do it!

Blessings,

Elder Candy

* No Matter What, We Will Still . . .

But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned
and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
2 Timothy 3:14

As always, we give give God all of the glory and honor that is due Him and thank Him for allowing us to share in the day that He has made.

Have you ever heard a sermon and that word is so edifying that it just stays with you when you walk away?   Apostle Paul is full of these; a word from God that is so inspiring it just stays with you.  On one occasion he is talking to his young protege; his spiritual son, Timothy, and he explains to him what is going to occur in the last days; the godlessness that is occurring in these last days.

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.  For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.  2 Timothy 3:1-5

But we, the body of Christ, are warned to have nothing to do with them, to continue in God’s word and be aware unless we also be led away with the error of the wicked, or fall from our own steadfastness.   But, instead, we are to grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

So today, amidst the coronavirus pandemic, the systemic racism, all of the wickedness, corruption and evilness occurring in the world, knowing that we are indeed living in the last days and perilous times are upon us, we pray for God’s strength, His love, and His protection to lead us, to guide us and to keep us.  The influences of the world are great; keeping our focus is a must.

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.  Colossians 3:1-2

From the word of God, we know that we are to love God with all of our heart, our soul, mind and strength,

And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.  Luke 10:27

God would have it that we are in perfect peace despite what is going on around us. When we understand that Satan is in direct opposition to God, then we understand the reason why the mind is a a battlefield and is under attack by the enemy. Satan knows that if he can get our mind off of God; if he can distract us long enough, we will not be able to sustain our connection to God. As Apostle Paul says in several of his epistles, 'brethren, I would not have you ignorant'. Knowing is half the battle. So we understand that Satan attacks on all fronts and he attempts to challenge the word of God. Throughout the New Testament, we are admonished and encouraged to guard our minds and to keep our thoughts on God. When the enemy recognizes that we have a made up mind or that we are sincere in our efforts to serve God, he moves in with all sorts of contrary thoughts, suggestions, influences and ideas to distract. But God tells us when we think on Him and His goodness that this:
. . . shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.   Philippians 4:7

So we come before God, not only on behalf of ourselves, but intervening on behalf of our loved ones, those that are lost and confused, the backsliders, those struggling in their faith and yes, even the underbeliever:

Dear heavenly Father

We come to You on this day, grateful for every single thing that You have done for us thus far.  We thank You heavenly Father for Your peace, love and grace that You've bestowed upon us.  You've kept us Lord for such a time as this. You've given us the gift of Your precious Holy Spirit to keep us in all of Your ways. We thank You Lord for Your word; for Your living word that sustains us, that gives us knowledge of You that sets our path in the right direction.  Lord we thank You for being a right now God, for hearing our call and knowing that You will answer.

Dear God, we thank You for great and everlasting faithfulness!  We thank You for Your goodness and for Your mercy.  We know that when we walk in obedience according to Your word that You will supply every need we have according to Your riches in glory.

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:19

We thank You for the life You've given us, for our health and for our strength.  We thank You Lord for being in our right mind; not only mentally, but most of all, having a mind to serve You!

We thank You heavenly Father for Your wings of comfort and protection.  You tell us in Your word to be careful for nothing; but in everything we do, by prayer and supplication and with thanksgiving, we are to let our requests be made known to You.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  Philippians 4:6

We thank You because we know You hear our prayers and our supplications and that You will answer us in Your time and in accordance to Your will.  We thank You Lord, for we know that if we seek Your kingdom first and Your righteousness, that You will see about us; that you will take care of us just as you do the lilies of the fields.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.  Matthew 6:33

We thank You God for Jesus who You sent here to save us and wash our sins away.  Through His blood, is the power to endure every bad and evil thing that comes against us.  It is through Jesus that we have the power to run this race.

We thank You Lord because we have someone in You to call on, when we’re in need, You’re the first one we’re to call on and You come down and see about us.  Lord, we thank You even for the angels that You've given charge over us, to protect us in our coming in and our going out.  Heavenly Father, we pray that You increase our faith to realize that it is You and only You that make us victorious; all for Your glory and so we want to be glory carriers, we want our lives to shine; we want to be that beacon on a hill that others see so that they find their way to You.

Lord we ask, in the precious name of Jesus, that You mend broken hearts, that You bring comfort and peace to those that have lost loved ones, Lord to those that are sick and ailing in their body and in their mind, we pray that Your healing virtue flow.  Lord bring deliverance to those that are lost and feel all alone.  We know that You are able to do all of these things and so much more.

Help us Lord, in these last days, to stand for You, to take a position and make that position known; that You are the one true living God, the only wise God; the wonder-working God of miracles; the one that never fails, the author and finisher of our faith.  Help us Lord to be bold soldiers for You; instruments that You can use for Your will.  Help us Lord to get and keep Your word in our heart; Lord, to meditate on it day and night.  It’s in Your word that we learn how to combat the enemy, that we learn how to dress for spiritual warfare so that when we become faint, we can still stand on Your word.

We need You Lord in our life to purge us of everything that is not like You so that we can live the life that You have purposed for us.  We need You Lord to search our hearts and our minds and remove everything that is not like You.

Lord, help us to be strong and of good courage; knowing that You will never leave us nor forsake us.  You’ll be with us, You will lead us and guide us in the direction that we’re to take.

Lord, help us to keep our hope in You and know that You are our solid rock, our fortress, our refuge.  In Your word, You tell us that:

he that abides under the shadow of the most high shall dwell in the secret place of the almighty  Psalms 91:1

– we thank You Lord for being our refuge – for giving us a secret place wherein we can dwell.  We thank You Lord for being our strength.  Help us Lord to realize that You are the joy of our strength and the strength of our Life, the center of our Joy, our Jehovah Nissi- we are victorious in You.  We trust in You, we believe in You, we know that Your word is true!

Your word says that we can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens us.  Help us to lean on You and not our own understanding; to acknowledge You in all of our ways so that You will direct our path.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:5-6

Even in our suffering, help us to endure and trust in You.  You said that even as Jesus suffered for us, we should arm ourselves likewise to suffer

Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;  1 Peter 1:4

 - and when we do suffer, to suffer as good soldiers in obedience to Your word; not growing faint because we know that in due season that if we faint not, we will reap of Your goodness.  Lord we thank You for that.  Help us dear Lord to throw off everything that hinders us and break every yoke of sin and bondage that so easily entangles us.  Help us to run this race with perseverance.  Help us to fix our eyes on Jesus, who is the author and perfecter of our faith.  We want to hear You say, ‘well done, my good and faithful servant, enter into my rest’. A place where there is peace and joy forever more.   Help us not to grow weary in our good works, to have patience and wait on You for all things.

Lord keep us with a mind to be faithful to You and Your word.  Build us up in Love and unity toward You and our fellow brother and sisters.

Lord, in this perverse world, instill in us a spirit of ‘Yes’!  Yes to Your will, yes to Your word, yes to Your way; help us to obey You Lord.   Lord it’s my daily prayer that we not only seek You first, Lord, but that we put You first; that we make You the head of our life.  You are the potter Lord and we are the clay.  Mold us and make us according to the purpose that You've designed for us. Help us to get our priorities straight. You said that we are to have nothing and no one else before You.  You said if we do as You have instructed; that if we follow Your word, You’ll bless us, prosperous us and we’ll be successful.

Get us to that place Lord, help us to get it in our mind, our heart and our soul  where it doesn't matter what it looks like or what it feels like,

√     we’ll still  give You a yes,
√     we will still lift Your name up,
√     we will still praise Your name,
√     we will still worship, acknowledge and obey You.

We know that we have a great work to be done in Your name and we need You every step of the way Lord.   We want to be about our father’s business.  A made up mind Lord, a made up mind is what we need.

Help us Lord, as we’re moving forward in this season to be all that You are requiring us to be.  Help those Lord who have given up hope, who are struggling, those who are discouraged.  Lord we know that You are a sustainer, a keeper, a mind regulator, a comforter, a bringer of peace.  We know that You are a supplier of our every need.  Lord You said to ask and we’ll receive, seek and we will find, knock and the door would be opened.  Lord we come before you now asking for Your divine intervention of everyone that is seeking something from You today!

We know that You are able and that the battle is not over until You say it is over.  And so Lord I pray for continued and increased faith for all that are seeking you this day.  We come before You Lord this day in supplication and prayer, seeking Your will for us that we may obey You in all things; that we do all things according to Your purpose.

And now, Lord we pray that even as You be within us that You be with us, that You lead us and guide us, give us wisdom and knowledge to speak and act according to Your will; that we may be laborers in Your field; that Your manifested glory be revealed through us dear God.

We ask all these things and we thank You for all things, in Jesus' wonderful name we pray, amen.

Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto You; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest , as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also , being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.  2 Peter 3:14-18

Be encouraged to keep climbing; pressing toward the high mark!
God bless and have a wonderful glory-filled day today!
