Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the
knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
2 Corinthians 10:5
Every negative thought needs to be brought under subjection. When necessary – confess that thought so that the enemy does not beat you up with it.
Don't allow your negative thoughts to consume your mind; what results is the inability to focus on God, His Word and His will for our life. It results in bad decisions that are based on a temporal situation.
What is the remedy for this? Know that the enemy only has one goal where we are concerned: kill our faith, steal our joy, and destroy any hope we have in Christ Jesus.
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10
What better way to attack us but through our mind. It's a double strike for the enemy. He knows that God requires us to love Him with our all.
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. Mark 12:30
The word of God tells us to bring every thought captive that is not of God. We do this by:
¨ Consistently reading our word
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Joshua 1:8
¨ Encouraging our self in God
And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8
¨ Thanking God for the blessings in our life
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18
¨ Praying in the Holy Spirit
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Jude 1:20
¨ Fellowshipping with our brothers and sisters in Christ
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:25
¨ Ask for intervention from your pastor or other spiritual leader
Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end. Proverbs 19:20
¨ Continue to praise and worship God in spite of . . .
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Psalms 100:1-2
¨ Have faith that God will see you through
But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
Believe as did the prophet, Jeremiah:
Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee: Jeremiah 32:17
