Incline Thine Ear

Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an
everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
Isaiah 55:3

God does not contradict his message. He is consistent. God can speak anytime that He wants. We do not determine when He speaks; we may miss Him when He does speak because our focus is not on Him. We should always anticipate God speaking at any time.

We are encouraged to seek God, to hear him speak through the word of God; we are encouraged to seek spiritual counsel when necessary.  We are even encouraged to read the word of God so that we may know Him in a better way and be found doing His will in excellence.

Reality Check:

God speaks through the Holy Spirit, the bible, prayer, circumstances, and the church to reveal himself, His purposes and His ways.

God always clarifies what He says.  He wants us to adjust from where we are to where He is.  His will is to actively become involved where we are but also to let us become aware of what He is up to so we can respond accordingly.

The scripture is our guide – it’s how God makes Himself known.  It is obvious in the bible:  God speaks to His children.

As a believer, we should hear God when He speaks to us.  If we don’t know when God is speaking to us, we are in trouble at the heart of the christian life because it is a relationship not an activity that God desires.

Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge.  For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips.  That thy trust may be in the Lord, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.  Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?  Proverbs 22:17-21

Anything that God is a part of has weight.  However and whenever He speaks, it is serious.  It is God, not the wisdom of man, that counsels, leads, guides and directs us.  Apostle Paul concluded

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:  Romans 3:10

The Holy Spirit is assigned the responsibility to help us understand.  The Holy Spirit touches your heart and mind and brings you to the truth of God and into the middle of God’s will.  Once you understand, you are to obey.  The Holy Spirit takes the word of God and brings us to an understanding.

The Holy Spirit helps us pray as He knows the will of God and He will direct you to the will of God.

Learn to pray, realize that the spirit of God is active.  Pray to see things from God’s perspective.

Don’t interpret the will of God by circumstances.  The circumstances are part of the plan as interpreted from God’s perspective.

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.   Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.  Psalm 37:23-24

God gives us spiritual markers - things, events, scents, pictures and symbols that remind us of significant events, truths, seasons or decisions in our lives - as a way of remembering special events or times to help guide us to walk faithfully and not depart from Him.

You don’t lose your individuality in the life of the body, you find yourself in the body.

Lastly, don't be so quick to "hear from God"  that you listen to just anything.  Take caution when hearing from God:  Everyone saying that they hear from God is not hearing from God.  Test it in the life of the body.  Too few are being cultivated to hear the word of God.  Remember, if it's not found, it's not sound.  If what is being said to you does not align itself to the word of God, you can believe it is not from God.
