Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven
given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Acts 4:12
Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 14:5-6
The bible tells us that there is salvation in no other name but the name of Jesus.
Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:10-12
I am reminded of a man in the bible, Simon the sorcerer, who hoped to be able to purchase the Holy Spirit from Peter and John and then disperse it himself.
And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. Acts 8:18-19
From this account we know that Simon did not have a full understanding, if any understanding at all, of what he was asking. His motives were selfish and self-centered. His thoughts were on his diminished fame and power and he saw this as the perfect way to restore that which he had lost. He did not understand what salvation was all about though he saw the power of the holy spirit displayed. Salvation is not through the purchasing and selling of something that is not rightfully yours. Let's understand what salvation is about.
From the moment sin entered into the world, a process was necessary to bring man back into communion or right standing with God. That process is called salvation. Through the word of God we know that salvation is available to mankind through the life, death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The word of God tells us there is no other way except through the only begotten son who was the propitiation for our sins:
Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. John 10:9
Salvation
is defined as deliverance from the power or penalty of sin; redemption.
The agent or means that brings about such deliverance. (Christianity) the act of delivering from sin
or saving from evil [syn: redemption].
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not
of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Not
of works, lest any man should boast. For
we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath
before ordained that we should walk in them. Wherefore remember, that ye [being] in time
past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is
called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were
without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers
from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the
blood of Christ. Ephesian
2:8-13
Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not
as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own
salvation with fear and trembling. Phillipians 2:12
How do we achieve
salvation? Our salvation is based on His
death and Resurrection - salvation comes through the name of Jesus Christ:
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12
There was a man of the
Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? John 3:2-9
Apostle Paul speaks of the necessity of believing that Jesus paid the price for our salvation
But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, [even] in
thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the
Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the
dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the
heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made
unto salvation. For the scripture saith,
Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew
and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon
him. For whosoever shall call upon the
name of the Lord shall be saved.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesian 2:8-9
Peter lets us know that we are baptized in the name of Jesus
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye
shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38
All signs for salvation point to Jesus:
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call
his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Matthew 1:21
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee
the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. John 17:3
The result of having
salvation is Eternal life with our heavenly Father.
But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off
are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
Ephesians
2:13
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;
but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but
he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the
name of the only begotten Son of God.
John
3:16-18
And this is the record, that God hath given to us
eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; [and] he that
hath not the Son of God hath not life. These
things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that
ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of
the Son of God. 1 John
5:11-13
If we want to have eternal
life with our Heavenly father, we must go through the process of salvation as
it is outlined in the word of God:
> Faith through the word of God
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17
> Re-birth experience
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. John 3:5-7
> Receive God's Holy Spirit
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38
John 3:5-7

ReplyDeleteGreetings Sister Candy H.
ReplyDeleteYou just keep right on “saying what God has placed in your heart.” We get the “so-called puzzle” referred by Mr. Howard Ammerman, so we guess that puts us in that similar group of people “who takes a passage out of context, and twists it to mean something it was never meant to mean.” It amazes us how one can quote scriptures without any personal commentary “to offer one’s own private interpretation to any passages” and still be accused of “adding one’s own ‘thoughts and imaginations’ to what the word of God means.” More interestingly is that fact that the detractors can critique a message, call it “twisted out of context,” and then say that what is doing “makes the whole word that is preached with that 'understanding' into filthy rags, not a clean white robe,” yet not offer any scriptural references to validate any of their so-called claims. If your heart truly belongs to God, and from your past post, this appears to be the case, then all you can do is trust that God is your message to touch the heart of someone who is going to need that message of the day. No, not every message is going to reach every person the same, because not everyone is on the same level of understanding God’s word as another may be. We have over the years learned not to respond to such detractors because their primary agenda is not the improvement of we are saying. Though we know that you do not do what you do for “a pat on the back” or “to put a feather in your cap,” however, every now and again, it is good to hear encouraging words, for they do a righteous soul, good. Be encouraged and keep on keeping on, for there are some who do get it. Amen.
Blessings,
KW
