Be Ye Holy

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.  Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.(Colossians 3:1-2)

To God be the glory!  This is the day that the Lord, our God, our heavenly Father made and I declare that I will rejoice and be glad in it!

The scripture I would like to share with you today speaks of our disciplining ourselves to lead a Christ-like life:

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.  And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
(1 Peter 1:13-17)

To ‘gird up the loins’ of your mind means to prepare yourself mentally and in respect to the scriptures, to be sober or rational in your thinking; not blown away from every thought that enters your mind, discipline yourself and make up your mind that you are going to be obedient in accordance to God’s word, forgetting about those things that made you ‘tick’ in Your former life.  When we became children of God, glory carriers, light bearers, followers of Jesus, we became new creatures and as new creatures, we don’t act, think or talk like our former selves.  God tells us to be holy because He is holy.  This was stated in Leviticus 5 different times:

And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed You from other people, that ye should be mine.

I believe God meant that! And then Peter reminds the body of Christ of this instruction from God. And he ends it by telling believers that if we call on our heavenly Father we should do so while living our life here on earth in reverence to God. When we do this, it’s easy to go boldly before the throne of God and make our petitions known. It becomes easy and second nature to live on the promises of God! But our lifestyle, our worship, our trust and faith in God cannot be limited to our time spent inside a  church building. It has to be active - 24 hours, 365 days every year. At one point God let the children of Israel know that He had turned a deaf ear to their prayers! We don’t want our prayers to be in vain. We want to know that God is listening and acting positively on our prayers! We should stand strong on the word of God and the promises He has guaranteed us when we become as children unto Him and are obedient to His word.

My encouragement on today is to gird our minds in faith and truth in  God’s word and  by evidence of the Holy Ghost residing within us!  Amen.

In the precious name of Jesus, Lord we pray Your active attention to our prayers.

Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You this day, grateful for another day that You have allowed us to see.  We thank You for the dawning of a new day, for new mercies, for another opportunity to seek Your face, to give You the honor and the glory that is due You.  Lord we thank You for seeing fit to wake us in our right mind and with our health and our strength.

Lord we love You not so much for what You've done for us, but for who You are!  We thank You Lord because we’re on the winning side, the right side of eternal life where there will be peace and joy for ever more.  Lord we thank You for Your sovereignty.  We thank You Lord for the good work that You’ve begun in us.

Lord we pray for made up minds to serve You; to be pleasing in Your sight.  Help us Lord to be all that You called us to be in the name of Jesus.  Lord, I pray for a refreshing in the spirit, fresh fire, renewed desire to serve You Lord, to be about our heavenly Father’s business.  Help us Lord to be steadfast and unmovable in you; always abounding in Your word.

Lord, I pray against every single attack of the enemy that comes to stand in the way of our serving You, every attack against our bodies and our minds, I plead the blood of Jesus against it!  In the name of Jesus, Lord, we bind everything that is not like You, we plead the blood against every curse, against demonic activity!  We plead the blood against every negative word and thought.  In the name of Jesus, we bind  the spirit of low self-esteem, the spirit of lust and rebellion and disobedience to Your word!  Lord, we pray for Your anointing to cover us in all of our ways; we want to conform to Your every word in all of our ways Lord; empty us of all that is not like You Lord and fill us with the fruit of Your spirit.

Lord, help us to walk in peace and unity.  You tell us in Your word to:

To follow peace with all men and holiness without which no one can see God  (Hebrews 12:14)

Help us Lord to love as You say love.  You tell us in Your word to:

Let nothing be done through [contention] strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.  (Philippians 2:3)

Lord we pray for unity in the body of Christ; help us to be united in You.  Help us to be a force against satanic attacks.  Help us to walk in love and love our brothers and sisters as You tell us in Your word.

And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.    (1 John 3:23)

Help us Lord to be like-minded; having the mind of Jesus; acting and reacting in the same manor as our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Lord, in the name of Jesus, we pray for healing.  We ask Lord that You touch each and every person who’s name has gone up before You.  Lord You see the need, You know the need.  Lord we’re asking that you meet that need rather it be healing of the body, the mind, the emotions or the spirit, we pray that You perform healing in accordance to Your word; that You send deliverance in the name of Jesus!   You tell us in Your word that You are our healer:

[You said] . . . If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.  (Exodus 15:26)

We thank You for Your word, for Your promise unto us.  We praise Your name because You are faithful; You’re not like man that You should lie, but Lord when You speak it, Your word accomplishes that for which it was sent.

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.  Isaiah 55:11

Lord we thank You for that.  We thank You Lord for your loving kindness towards us.

Lord, we pray that you dispatch the angels to watch over us and keep us throughout the day.  Watch over the children and keep them from all hurt, harm and danger.  Remember the elderly, the frail and the shut-in today, Lord, provide for their needs, in the name of Jesus.

As we go about our day today, Lord I pray that we be ever mindful of You; that the fruit of Your spirit be evident to all, that we be a blessing to someone along the way and that Your will be done in our life.

We thank You for all  You’ve done, for all that You’re doing and for all that you’re going to do.

And now unto the only One that is able to keep us from falling, and  present us faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Saviour,   (Jude 1:24-25)

We pray, in Jesus’ name, amen!

As you go about your day today, take this scripture with you:

And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.  (Mark 10:27)

God bless you all in the precious name of Jesus,
