Eternal not Temporal

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless
before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour,
be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

Jude 1:24-25

Praise the Lord and welcome to another day God has graced us to see! We made it by His absolute grace, mercy and loving kindness that He has towards us. Who couldn’t or wouldn’t serve a sovereign God such as this?

What really makes it awesome is because we are a child of the King, we know that the enemy is furious and because we know that our self-nature or inclination is in enmity with God, the two will work together in unison to destroy our expectation of the great and miraculous works that God has intended for us, but because we belong to the sovereign, almighty God, Jehovah, we have nothing to fear!

This is what God has put in my spirit today in the way of prayer for the body of Christ:

To receive whatever it is that we are expecting from God, we must get over our self, our selfish thoughts and ideologies. God tells us that we are to live freely, alive and motivated by His Holy Spirit.

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Ephesians 3:20

When we get past our self, we won’t feed the compulsions of selfishness. God tells us that there is a root of sinful self-interest in us that is at odds with the Holy Spirit; that the Holy Spirit is incompatible with selfishness and self-motivation.

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.  Matthew 16:25-25

These two ways of life,  selfishness and self-motivation, are adverse to the Holy Spirit to the point that we cannot live our lives at times one way and at other times another way according to how we feel on any given day.

Our focus should be on the eternal and not the temporal things of this life.

With this thought, I’m encouraging you today to choose to be led by the Spirit and rest in the confidence that God will not withhold any good thing from those that have chosen to live their life for Him according to His will.

We have to be strong in our belief and get to the point of Queen Esther: she had a made up mind so much so that when she faced that pivotal moment in her life, she was able to say no matter what comes against me, "If I perish, I perish." Peter gives us excellent encouragement when he says:

“And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ. For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.”   1 Peter 3:13-17

This tells me that if with our whole heart and soul we’re doing good, we shouldn’t allow anything to stop us. Even if we suffer for it, we’re still better off. Don’t give the enemy or your self nature a second thought. At all times, no matter what, through thick and thin:

Ø    keep your hearts at attention, in prayer, worship, praise and adorationn before God.
Ø   be ready and willing to stand on the Kingdom of God and speak up and proclaim God and His righteousness.
Ø   keep a clear conscience before God and don’t be moved by people and negative situations.

Remember it’s better to suffer for doing good, if that’s God's will, than to be punished for doing bad. That’s what Christ did. He suffered because of others’ sins. He being the Righteous One, we being the unrighteous ones. He went through all that He did—was put to death and then made alive—to bring us to God.

Read the accounts of various ones in the bible who persevered hard times and remained with God the entire time; Joseph, Moses, Job. God was with them all the way! So I will tell you again, get over yourself, and give yourself; all of you, to God and let Him avenge the wrong in your life so that you can live freely, abundantly alive through the Holy Spirit working in you!

Dear Heavenly Father, we’re grateful for another opportunity to come before your throne acknowledging your sovereignty, thankful for Your grace, mercy, loving kindness, and Your faithfulness! We thank You Lord because You are omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient – all-knowing, all-seeing, with infinite wisdom! We see Your wisdom in your creation of the heavens and the earth.

Lord, my prayer today is that Your Holy Spirit be stirred within us to move out of our places of comfortability; that we lose every fleshly thought, that we move past the distractions and the hindrances; the weights and even the sin and that we put our focus on You, Your kingdom and it’s righteousness! Trouble us Lord in our sleep and in our daily activities to become more like You; to lose the temporal appetites of this world so that we find our self in the center of Your divine will; at Your disposal to do as You tell us.

Lord we are crying out today for every backslider, for every soul that has lost their way in you and in the precious name of Jesus we are pleading on their behalf that they find their way back to You before it is too late. Lord we’re asking that through the power and authority given us through Jesus Christ that we, Your children, become a force to be reckoned with as we labor in this world to lead the lost, the blinded, the unbelieving, the skeptics to You for healing and deliverance of mind, body and soul. Lord, help us to let our lights; Your glory, so shine before men that they find their way to You! We want what you want for us Lord; to be ambassadors for You, good representatives, glory carriers to a world that is sin-sick and dying because they don’t have You; because they don’t know You in an intimate way!

Lord, I pray for our spiritual leaders today; the bishops, pastors, elders, ministers, teachers, preachers, evangelists and everyone else that You have called out to do ministry work. Lord I pray that we stay firmly rooted and grounded in You; Lord that You give us the strength to sustain every single thing that comes up against us to either destroy us or tempt us to go contrary to Your way.

Lord we pray for the body of Christ. We believe that You are, Lord but help our unbelief. Increase our faith to believe that You will do exactly what You say You will do! Help us to remain steadfast in You, unmoved by the cares of this world and always abounding in You, in the name of Jesus.

We thank You Lord for all that You’ve done, and all that You’re going to do! Help us Lord to take the stance of Your servant Apostle Paul where:

Nothing fazes us because we know in our hearts that Jesus loves us and we become absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing will get between us and God’s love and His faithfulness to us!

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 8:38-39

In the precious name of Jesus I pray, amen!

God's blessings to you!

Elder C. L. Henry
