But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23
The Holy Spirit is part of the triune nature of God, but the Holy Spirit has an individual personality that is the portrait of God. When we allow the holy spirit to dwell within us we receive power from on high that will lead us and direct us in the ways of God.
To the believer who has ever had a power struggle within regarding something ungodly; your self-nature is saying do it, your spirit is saying you shouldn't. Then you feel something on the inside stand up in you and say, 'you're not going to do that'. This is a testimony to Apostle Paul's statement:
For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. Galatians 5:17
and it gives credence to the word of God which says: . . . because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4
Our self nature does not disappear because we have received the Holy Spirit but the Holy Spirit enables us to bring our mind and body into subjection and alignment with God's will.
But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, . . . 1 Corinthians 9:27
. . . but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, . . . Romans 12:2
The Holy Spirit has many other facets such as the Bible reveals that the Holy Spirit . . .
®
And He that searcheth the hearts
knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit . . . Romans 8:27
® Searches out the human mind:
But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit; for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 1 Corinthians 2:10
® Has a will:
But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as He will. 1 Corinthians 12:11
The will of the Holy Spirit guides
believers by denying permission for certain actions:
Now when they had gone throughout
Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to
preach the word in Asia, After they were
come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia; but the Spirit suffered them
not. Acts 16:6-7
The will of the Holy Spirit also
guides believers by granting permission:
And after he had seen the vision,
immediately we endeavored to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the
Lord had called us for to preach the Gospel unto them. Acts 16:10
® Speaks:
He spoke to Philip:
Then the Spirit said unto Philip,
Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. Acts 8:29
He spoke to Peter:
While Peter thought on the vision,
the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee. Acts 10:19
He spoke to the elders in the city
of Antioch:
As they ministered to the Lord,
and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work
whereunto I have called them. Acts 13:2
Revelation 2 and 3 record
several messages spoken by the Holy Spirit to seven churches in Asia.
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; . . . Revelation 2:7
® Loves:
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)
® Intercedes:
One of the benefits of having the Holy Spirit is that He is an intercessor. This means He prays to God on behalf
of others:
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth
our infirmities; for we know not what we should pray for as we ought; but the
Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered
[understood]. Romans 8:26
God's Holy Spirit is altogether absolutely everything we need to succeed in this world by living holy, consecrated lives unto God. We are able to do this when we employ the characteristics of the spirit of God residing within us:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23
Exercise this fruit unfeigned in your life every day and watch as it begins to fight for you!
Jesus understood the importance of the Holy Spirit dwelling within us:
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. John 16:7
