Holistic Healing: Physical

For I will restore health unto thee,
and I will heal thee of thy wounds,
saith the Lord.
Jeremiah 30:17

Remember, it’s important for believers to go to the Bible for direction and guidance. Believers should want to approach healing in a biblical way, and in Scripture we discover the source and purposes for healing, as well as instruction and methods for asking and acting in faith.  There are 5 major areas wherein we are promised holistic healing, they are:

  • Spiritual
  • Emotional
  • Mental
  • Physical
  • Financial
Today's focus is on our physical health; our body

Physical:

Though the accounts of miraculous healing, we can see that with nearly each one, it came with instructions either directly from God or from the prophet:

And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.  2 Kings 5:10

What shall I say? he hath both spoken unto me, and himself hath done it: I shall go softly all my years in the bitterness of my soul.   O Lord, by these things men live, and in all these things is the life of my spirit: so wilt thou recover me, and make me to live.  Isaiah 38:15-16

The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.  Psalm 41:3

Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.  He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.  Psalm 107:19-20

For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord.  Jeremiah 30:17

Jesus healed many:

And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.  Matthew 14:14

In the illustration below we see a woman that has spent all of her money on physicians trying to be healed of a physical ailment.   There is nothing wrong in seeking physicians, however, there is a God that can do what man cannot.

And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.  Mark 10:27

Because Jesus healed the man with mental issues who then went and evangelized his city, this same woman heard of a man named Jesus who was able to to heal in a way that the physicians could not:

®  Account example

And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,  Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.   And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?   And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.  And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.   And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.  Luke 8:43-48

We trust in God for many, many things and yet when it comes to healing our body, we lack faith.  Trust that the same God that blesses you with temporal things like money, homes, jobs, cars and other material things is the same God that can save your soul.  If He is able to save your soul, surely, He can heal our body just as it is illustrated throughout the bible.  God has the power to do as He will.  There is no quantifier on His power:

God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.  Psalms 62:11
