Disciples are Anointed

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Luke 4:18-19

We have to be careful who we listen to.   Satan uses any tactic he can to devour you; anything he can to get you off focus.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:  1 Peter 5:8

God is looking for consistency.  How can we be consistent in what we believe if we don’t act it out.

Disciples are anointed.  The Greek word for anoint is ‘chrio’ which means to smear or rub with oil; to consecrate or offer for religious service; it is God’s blessing or call on a person’s life.  The actual smearing or rubbing of oil does not automatically make you called.  The calling comes from God and is confirmed by man with the smearing or rubbing of oil.  Oil is still applicable today.

It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;  Psalms 133:2

The purpose of the anointing is to be in agreement with the word of God.  The purpose has to be biblical.  We should anoint our children and our spouses.  The anointing should not be viewed as a magic potion.  We don’t worship the oil.  The oil that you purchase does not have power, it has to be anointed.  The oil is a symbol of what God is doing; it is only God who can anoint.  We don’t worship the person or the symbol.

Another meaning for anointing is ‘Chosen one’.  Being anointed and the anointing are two different things.  Jesus was anointed by God with the Holy Spirit:

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,  To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.  Luke 4:18-19

Ask yourself, 'What am I anointed for?'  We are all anointed for something.  What works for one person may not work for you because that is not what you are anointed for.  Pray to God to find what your anointed purpose is.  We need to be in the core of our anointing.  We grow in God and we go from anointing to anointing; glory to glory.  If you don’t grow, you become stuck and miss the calling or anointing of God.

We are anointed on purpose for a purpose but it is up to us to find that purpose; you have to get close enough to God to hear Him.

We have to learn to stop telling everyone what God has given us.  Everyone is not for you.  Refer to Queen Athaliah.   Scripture Reference 2 Kings 11

Understand that Satan anoints those that work for him.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:  1 Peter 5:8

We need to kill the negative spirits that come against us.  We have to understand the special purpose on our life.  Special purposes does not mean competition.

I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing.  2 Corinthians 12:11

What has God anointed you to do?  Jesus purpose is found in Luke 4:18-19:

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,  To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Nothing should stop you from doing what God has purposed you to do; until your purpose has been fulfilled.  We can glean from the seasoned ones who teach and live the word of God.  We cannot get ahead of God, we are to follow; we don’t want to not be able to see God.  We don’t want to over-commit our self so that we don’t have time for God.  There is work to do to get us to the totality of what God wants us to do.  There are battles that must be fought.  We have to be built up in God so that we can face whatever comes against us.

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:  1 John 5:14

You have to know when God is working in your life.  He will use anything to get your attention.  God wants us back to the core of what He has anointed us to.  We have to stop making bad decisions which is delaying us from getting to the core; the center of God's purpose in our life.

And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.  Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.   And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.  And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.  Luke 5:3-6

We have to do something different in order to get better results.  Don’t let our service or prayer to God become ritualistic and vain repetition.  Jesus was anointed by God with the Holy Spirit to do good . . .

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.  Acts 10:38

Why is God not with us always?  The same God that is with us on Sunday during service, where is He on Monday?  He is there; it is the enemy that tries to convince you otherwise.  The enemy will try to tell you that you can’t live right for God and because our mind is in a carnal place, the enemy wins.  When you’re defeated, it is because you did not bring your all to Jesus.  Don’t stay home when you are heavy in your spirit.  Learn how to encourage yourself in God.

We have to know what time it is.

And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.  1 Chronicles 12:32

At some point we need a detox; a cleansing so that we can be in sync with God.  We need to learn to hear from God for yourself.  We ask for the anointing but we don’t walk in it.  We have to be anointed for everything we do for God.  When we stop praying before we do the service of God; we are saying we don’t need God.  If God does not anoint us to do what we do for Him, we are only performing.  We want to be the most effective and we can only do that with the anointing of God.

Demons should already be trembling before you come on the scene.  You should set the atmosphere where ever you go.  All Christians are chosen for a specific purpose in Christ Jesus.

Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.  2 Corinthians 1:21-22

Stop taking God’s glory.  Fasting and Prayer keeps you humble.  If God sealed you, why would you let a man unseal you?
