It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23
Amidst
all the upheavals of this unstable world and all the disunity of a distracted
church, truth remains
steadfast forever. Human reasoning constantly changes and the inventors of this
world's systems pass away, but "the
solid foundation of God stands"!
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 2 Timothy 2:19
God's truth, word, promises, and covenant are as sure as He is faithful. Similarly, a trustworthy and reliable person is faithful—someone others can depend upon.
Faith is the confidence we have in possessing the things we hope for because of the promises of God. Faithfulness is adhering unswervingly to God and His covenant. To be faithful we need to be:
* loyal (steadfastly affectionate and in allegiance to God),
* conscientious (scrupulous in doing God's will),
* dedicated (zealously devoted to God) and
* truthful (true to God's Word and standard of righteousness).
→ Our faith is built on these principles:
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. Colossians 3:1-3
because we are not looking at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen. For what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18
for we live by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7
God's faithfulness is infinite, incomparable, unfailing, everlasting and great. Obviously, faithfulness is a character trait of both the Father, who is always faithful. and Jesus Christ, "the faithful witness" -
the faithful witness, the firstborn from among the dead, the ruler over the kings of the earth. To the one who loves us and has set us free from our sins at the cost of his own blood. Revelation 1:5

God shows His faithfulness in keeping His covenant with those who submit to His will and in forgiving the sins of those who genuinely repent. In addition, His Word is eternally reliable and true.

No trial has overtaken you that is not faced by

able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13
He who calls you is trustworthy, and he will in
fact do this. 1 Thessalonians 5:24

We can rely on God. We can put our faith in Him because He is true to His word
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Isaiah 55:11

ReplyDeleteMay we be found among those who "depart from iniquity" and are truly abiding "in Christ."
For to such His great promises will be fulfilled.
"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
My God, in whom I trust!”
- Psalm 91:1-2
I say amen to you! One of my favorite passages of scripture!
